Pancake And Beer – What’s Not To Like?Written by Mary Mullock in Food & Drink Slider Bar on February 28th, 2017
Gents get your Pancake Day aprons at the ready! It’s time to turn your kitchen into a fluffy, milky beer filled mess.
Why do we have pancake day? Pancake day came about as a way to get rid of “fatty” foods before lent. Sugar, milk and eggs aren’t normally eaten in fasting season so what better way to make use of all that food then by throwing it all into a pancake. Pancake day is kind of like Christmas day, it’s perfectly acceptable to eat a monstrous amount of food and to feel smug/overwhelmed with your accomplishment.
Here is a simple recipe that will take no time to do and will leave you feeling like you’ve just ingested a years worth of food … oh and did I mention it’s a pancake with beer!
• 150g plain flour
• 3 tablespoons caster sugar
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 egg, beaten
• 250ml beer (carlsberg, heineken, what ever tipple takes your fancy)
• 25g melted butter
The Easy Man’s Guide to putting it together:
1 | Stir together the flour, baking powder and sugar
2 | Add the egg melted butter and your beer, whisk until blended
3 | Heat frying pan to a medium heat (really important not to go too hot here!)
4 | Add vegetable oil to your pan
5 | Add a large spoonful of your batter
6| Flip your pancake like a pro when it’s browned on one side
There you have it, a simple guide to the best pancake you’ll ever have!
