SUSTAINABILITY
We’re recognising the challenges the world around us is facing, and we want to ensure that we’re putting actions in place for a positive future.
We developed our ESG strategy SUSTAIN as our long-term approach to sustainable business change, supporting our stakeholders, wider communities and the planet.
OUR COMMITMENT
We’ve made our pledge to become a net-zero fashion business by 2040. Working with our industry partners and changing the way we make products.
RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS USE:
Cotton, polyester and man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) represent 85% of the raw materials we use within our textiles-based products. We’re committed to making all our own brand products sustainable by 2030, using sustainable fabrics with proven positive environmental and social impacts.

IS YOUR ITEM MADE FROM COTTON?
Cotton is our most used material and we’ve been working with our suppliers and partners to work with desired alternatives and minimise its associated impacts.
We’re dedicated to using less impactful cotton options in our clothing, having over 70% of cotton coming from responsible alternatives such as Better Cotton, recycled cotton and organic cotton solutions.

BETTER COTTON
Jacamo is a proud member of Better Cotton. Through their programmes, Better Cotton trains farmers to use water efficiently, care for soil health and natural habitats, reduce the use of the most harmful chemicals and respect workers’ rights and wellbeing.
Better Cotton is sourced via a system of Mass Balance. This means we can’t always guarantee it’s in our product, but Better Cotton farmers can benefit from the commitment in equivalent volumes to which are used in our product.

IS YOUR ITEM MADE OF POLYESTER?
Polyester is highly versatile and an important material that allows us to make supportive and comfortable clothing for our customers. We believe it’s an essential material as part of our product mix, but we understand the environmental challenges it creates, which is why we’re exploring alternatives such as recycled that reduce the use of virgin materials.
To ensure our recycled polyester is from verified sources, we work with our suppliers and partners to certify they are compliant.

REPREVE FABRIC
An example of this is the use of our Repreve fabric, which is made from recycled materials, including used plastic bottles. Repreve uses a U Trust® verification program to certify the recycled content of its products. They also use FiberPrint®, a proprietary technology, to trace and validate the fabric’s fingerprint to ensure accurate content.
As technology improves, we aim to increase the volume of recycled polyester used in our products.

IS YOUR ITEM MADE OF VISCOSE, LYOCELL, MODAL OR RAYON?
Man-Made Cellulose Fibres (MMFS) are produced from cellulose-based materials, primarily from wood pulp that’s processed into fibres. You may know these as viscose, rayon or lyocell. Our focus is to work with manufacturing partners and NGOs to support us with sourcing sustainable clothing alternatives.

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH CANOPY
Jacamo’s partnership with Canopy aims to support the removal of MMCFs and packaging from Ancient and Endangered Forests by 2025. Through this, we can reduce the risk of the MMCF used in our products, assessing the impact they have on indigenous communities and biodiversity.
We are working with our suppliers to engage with New Gen solutions that are now on the market that aim to reduce the impacts of manufacturing MMCFs such as reducing water usage.

OUR RESPONSIBLE MMCF ALTERNATIVES
With support from our suppliers, we aim to harness these alternatives to improve our responsible MMCF use. For more information about our initiatives towards MMCFs please see our Forestry Policy.

OUR RESPONSIBLE USE OF FOREST-BASED MATERIALS
At Jacamo, we rely on forest-based materials in our hard goods and packaging. To support responsible forestry, we source FSC®-certified products. When browsing our platform, you can identify our FSC®-certified products in the product specification, which highlights that the products are made with material from FSC-certified forests and/or reclaimed or controlled sources.
